Individual Career Counseling
Highly experienced and extensively educated in career counseling models and applications, Barbara works with people who want to change some aspect of their work or explore a new direction in their lives. Barbara is passionate about helping people explore possibilities, make effective selections and sustain healthy and satisfying work choices that go beyond work as a source of income.
Individuals may identify ways to make their current jobs more satisfying, or they may decide on a new career path. Barbara’s approach, which draws from intuitive and analytical sources, allows individuals to:
- Increase clarity about work needs, desires and intentions
- Identify and change attitudes, behaviors and patterns that limit work satisfaction
- Create a career transition strategy or imagine possibilities for the next life phase

Outplacement and Career Transition Services
Outplacement and Career Transition Services from Heart At Work are always customized to reflect individual needs and organizational parameters. Programs and services can be designed for one employee or groups of up to 100, and may include any combination of the following services:
- Career counseling on effective transitions and establishing a new career direction.
- Career assessment including: identification of key competencies and motivators and personality assessments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory.
- Résumé and cover letter coaching and professional document edits and reviews.
- Creation of a job search strategy and specific tips on the most effective ways to secure job leads and employment.
- Marketplace resources and information on local and national job postings.
- Interview preparation and salary negotiation coaching.
- Career development and job search workshops.

Retention Programs
Retention Programs from Heart at Work are designed to address the unique retention issues of organizations and their valued employees. Barbara is particularly knowledgeable of the life-stages and accompanying challenges that may affect employees’ performance and commitment to work. Awareness of and attention to important life stages may help avert a career-related crisis or unnecessary resignations. The program may include any combination of the following services:
- Individual or group career assessment and career coaching including exploration and identification of key competencies, motivational factors and life stage priorities.
- Administration and interpretation of the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory, for individuals or groups.
- Presentations to managers and human resources professionals on quarter-life and mid-life stages of career development and their influence on productivity and commitment.
- Résumé, cover letter and document reviews for internal positions.
- Interview coaching for internal positions.
